Learn More About Ellacor™

This treatment removes micro-cores of skin a few micrometers thick. These will close up and begin the healing process within seconds. As the skin around these areas pulls together to close the micro-core gaps, it tightens and lifts. Ellacor™ has been approved to treat moderate to severe lines and wrinkles on the lower face. However, its tightening results can also firm the jawline and delay or eliminate the need for more invasive procedures.

While Ellacor™ produces immediate results as the skin contracts around the micro-cores to close the gaps, it also initiates a healing and repair process in the skin. This causes the cells to produce more collagen, giving the skin new firmness and support to keep it looking lifted and smooth.

During a detailed consultation, one of our expert team members will evaluate your skin and discuss your goals. They will help you determine if Ellacor™ is right for you and create a customized treatment plan, including the recommended intensity of treatment and how many sessions you may need.

At your appointment, we will apply numbing cream or inject numbing medication to keep you comfortable during the procedure. The handheld Ellacor™ device removes a series of micro-cores each time it moves over your face. The numbing should keep you from feeling anything except possibly some tingling. Depending on the treatment area, this process only takes a few minutes, and the micro-core gaps will already start to heal by the time you leave our office.

Your results will become fully visible after a few weeks as the skin remodels itself and produces more collagen. Most people will need two to three treatments. Full results may not appear until several months later as the body continues to produce new collagen and build a more youthful, skin-firming network for your skin.

Ellacor™ results are expected to be long-lasting, but touch-ups are required to maintain the best overall improvement. Following a high-quality skincare regimen and using sunscreen can help preserve your results.

You will have about three days of downtime, during which your skin may look red and feel somewhat sore and swollen. Complete closure of the micro-cores can take up to a week, so you will need to use only gentle products and no makeup during that time. You will also need to avoid sun exposure during healing. Wearing sunscreen with at least an SPF 30 will help your results last longer.

If you have skin laxity or lines and wrinkles in the lower face area, you may be a good candidate for Ellacor™. The treatment doesn’t use any thermal energy and is safe for almost all skin tones. Let your Capital Laser & Skin Care dermatologist know if you have a history of forming abnormal raised scars (keloids). People who have had dermal fillers in the area recently or those with an active skin infection or condition may not be good candidates for Ellacor™.
