Learn More About Vbeam Perfecta

Developed by Candela®, Vbeam Perfecta is the most advanced pulsed dye laser. The 595 nm wavelength laser can penetrate the epidermis and dermis to treat over a dozen common complexion concerns. It’s gentle, effective, and FDA-cleared for treating spider veins, inflammation, warts, and more.

There are many causes of facial redness, including excessive sun exposure, genetics, and inflammatory skin conditions such as rosacea that lead to dilated blood vessels. Unfortunately, many of these skin conditions get progressively worse over time if action is not taken to reduce the dilation of the vessels.

The pulsed dye laser has been used since the 1980s to treat facial redness and port wine stain birthmarks. The VBeam Perfecta pulsed dye laser is considered the gold-standard treatment for vascular lesions. It can be used to treat broken capillaries, rosacea, red scars, red birthmarks, leg veins, redness on the neck and chest, and cherry angiomas (bright red bumps on the body).

Vbeam Perfecta laser treatments are gentle enough that most patients do not need any numbing cream. The device includes an innovative cooling system to maintain a safe, comfortable temperature. Many patients compare the treatment sensation to a rubber band snap. The procedure may take a few minutes to half an hour, depending on the size of your treatment area.

As your dermatologist moves the laser over your skin, the VBeam delivers an intense burst of light to the targeted areas. Within the skin, the bright light is absorbed by pigment and blood vessels to fade them over time.

After the laser breaks down unwanted pigment and blood vessels during treatment, your body will gradually filter them out. Results appear over several weeks, and most patients need a series of treatments for the best outcome. Your Capital Laser & Skin Care dermatologist may recommend three or more monthly sessions, depending on the condition being treated. For example, cherry angiomas may require only one treatment, while rosacea often requires several.

Vbeam Perfecta results are long-lasting. You can expect to enjoy a clearer complexion with reduced redness, and some patients even see improved skin tone and texture. We may recommend maintenance treatments, depending on the condition you’re treating.

The Vbeam Perfecta vascular laser is extremely gentle and uses advanced cooling technology for your safety and comfort. Most patients report a sensation similar to a mild sunburn after the treatment, which can be managed with an ice pack. Patients usually experience redness immediately after treatment that subsides within hours. You can apply makeup immediately. For some, swelling can occur the next day. Rarely a bruise can develop that typically resolves within three to five days.

Vbeam Perfecta doesn’t require any downtime, though some patients choose to take a day or two off due to redness or minor swelling. Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer while your skin heals. It’s also essential to apply sunscreen, as your skin will be extra sensitive during this time.

Since the Vbeam pulsed dye laser targets pigmentation, it’s best for light and medium skin tones. Ideal candidates have Fitzpatrick skin types I-III and no tan. While some skin conditions may affect your eligibility for laser treatments, patients with inflammatory acne or rosacea may benefit from Vbeam Perfecta. Patients who have taken isotretinoin should wait at least six months after stopping their medication to undergo a laser or light-based treatment.

One of our board-certified dermatologists will assess your condition during a detailed consultation to determine if Vbeam Perfecta is right for you. For some patients, we may recommend alternative or additional treatments such as Forever Young BBL® or BBL® HERO™.
