Learn More About MOXI™

MOXI™ is a fractionated 1927nm laser. This wavelength targets the layers of skin where signs of early aging occur. The non-ablative laser does not damage the surface of the skin, making it gentle but effective for all skin types and tones. 

The laser energy works at a controlled depth to stimulate increased collagen production. It also triggers a rejuvenation process that fades pigmentation issues and early signs of sun damage. MOXI™ treatments can keep your skin producing youthful collagen levels and promote cell turnover that keeps skin looking fresh and even. Combining it with another treatment, such as the BBL® HERO™, can even treat deeper issues and more noticeable signs of aging. 

Many people choose MOXI™ for “prejuvenation,” a strategy for keeping aging from happening. MOXI™ can be used as a maintenance treatment to prevent fine lines, pigmentation problems, and dullness. This powerful anti-aging treatment ensures your skin stays looking healthy, vibrant, and smooth.

Numbing is available for MOXI™, but some people do not need it. Those who have treatment without numbing report a feeling of heat and prickling or tingling sensation. People who have numbing will usually feel very little. 

The average MOXI™ treatment can take as little as ten minutes. Your Capital Laser & Skin Care dermatologist rolls the device tip across your skin to administer the laser energy. Along with your face, they may also treat areas like your chest. After treatment, your provider will apply a soothing serum to minimize side effects.

The number of MOXI™ treatments you need depends on your goals and skincare concerns. Two to three sessions will address minor signs of aging and hyperpigmentation to restore a bright, youthful glow. People who use MOXI™ as a preventative treatment may only need one or two sessions to maintain healthy skin. 

Most people start to see results within five to seven days after their first treatment, although results continue to improve over the next few months as your skin increases collagen production. Treatments are usually spaced about four weeks apart to maximize your results. Your board-certified dermatologist will review your treatment plan and discuss your anticipated treatment schedule. 

Maintenance treatments will keep your skin looking smooth and even after MOXI™. Your ideal maintenance schedule depends on your age, skin concerns, and treatment goals. Most people benefit from treatment once or twice a year to ensure their desired results last as long as they want.

One advantage of MOXI™ is the manageable downtime. You can expect a sunburn-like redness and sensitivity for up to a few hours after treatment. You can return to your usual activities right away, although you should wait 24 hours before applying makeup. There are no restrictions on physical activities. 

Wearing a dermatologist-recommended sunscreen is particularly important after any laser treatment, including MOXI™. Sunscreen will protect your skin and prevent sunlight from damaging your developing collagen. Consistent use of sunscreen can help your results last much longer. Your dermatologist can also recommend other products to help your skin achieve maximum benefits from your treatment.

The best candidates for MOXI™ are starting to see or want to avoid early signs of aging. If you are experiencing more significant signs of aging, your dermatologist may recommend a different treatment or the addition of a treatment like BBL® HERO™ to your plan. 

Good candidates should have reasonable expectations and understand the risks and benefits of the procedure. Talk to your dermatologist if you have a skin injury, irritation, or an active skin condition in the treatment area. People with certain health problems may not be good candidates for MOXI™.
