Laser Skin Resurfacing

As technology advances and cosmetic treatments become safer, easier, and more popular, lasers have been at the center of this evolution. Laser technology can have many cosmetic applications, like hair removal or scar treatment, but one of their primary uses is skin rejuvenation.

Laser resurfacing renews the skin surface and promotes healing to improve signs of aging, acne scars, pigmentation issues, and more. At Capital Laser & Skin Care, our dermatologists are experts in laser skin resurfacing with various advanced laser devices.

Learn More About Laser Skin Resurfacing

Several types of lasers are available for skin rejuvenation, with different wavelengths and intensities. But resurfacing treatments all work similarly. The laser removes outer layers of dull, damaged skin, allowing healthy new skin to take its place. Meanwhile, heat from the laser stimulates a healing response in the dermis that increases collagen production. This two-fold approach can significantly improve skin tone and texture.

We strive to offer the most cutting-edge technology for the most effective treatments. Our dermatologists offer the following options for laser skin resurfacing.

As the original fractional non-ablative laser, Fraxel® remains one of the most innovative technologies. Fraxel® Dual combines two wavelengths for even better results. Non-ablative laser treatments like Fraxel® have minimal downtime and side effects. Patients typically only need two to three days of “social downtime,” and they’ll see complexion improvements within a week or two. Optimal results take three to six months and last years.

The UltraClear laser is an advanced skin resurfacing treatment designed to improve texture, tone, and overall skin quality with minimal downtime. It uses precise laser energy to stimulate collagen production and refresh the skin, helping soften fine lines, smooth roughness, and restore a more even, radiant appearance.

The MOXI™ laser is one of the gentlest resurfacing options. Patients can improve mild signs of aging and sun damage with a series of treatments. Its gentleness makes it an ideal “prejuvenation” option as well, or it can be combined with other modalities for more comprehensive results. MOXI™ requires little to no downtime. Results start to appear quickly, and we typically recommend one or two maintenance sessions yearly.

The unique HALO® hybrid fractional laser is the first to utilize ablative and non-ablative resurfacing simultaneously. As such, it pairs the gentleness of non-ablative lasers with the effectiveness of an ablative treatment. HALO® can treat sun damage, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, uneven texture, and more for all skin tones. Patients typically take a few days of social downtime. Initial results appear in approximately one week and last up to two years.

As the name suggests, this fractional laser can help you achieve a clear, brilliant complexion. It’s gentle enough to require no downtime. Ideal for sun damage and early signs of aging, Clear + Brilliant® prompts cellular regeneration and collagen production with minimal damage to the surface. Patients typically need a series of treatments for optimal results, which last several months.

Ablative fractional lasers like ProFractional by Sciton® have the ability to remove microscopic zones of skin tissue. Bridges of untouched skin between the treated columns allow rapid healing and regeneration, while the treated columns stimulate a natural healing response that enhances collagen production over time and rejuvenates the skin from the inside out. Fully ablative Erbium: YAG lasers completely remove the skin’s surface layer for the most intensive benefits.

While many patients choose the gentleness and minimal downtime of nonablative lasers, others prefer the dramatic, long-lasting results of ablative resurfacing. Patients typically take a week of “social downtime” after an ablative laser treatment. Results appear after several weeks as collagen develops. The skin appears refreshed, smoother, and more youthful; these results can last years.
