Kybella® is the first FDA-approved injectable treatment to reduce submental fat without surgery. With this simple in-office injection procedure at Capital Laser & Skin Care, you can achieve a more contoured jaw and neckline. 

Kybella’s® active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in breaking down and eliminating dietary fat. When injected into the fat layer beneath the chin, this acid destroys the fat cells there to reduce submental fullness. Once these fat cells are naturally removed by the body, they are gone for good.

During your private consultation, our board-certified dermatologists will evaluate the anatomy of the chin profile and discuss your goals to determine if Kybella® is right for you. We offer a wide range of treatments to meet your cosmetic needs and can help you pick the best one for you. In addition to Kybella®, we offer CoolSculpting® with CoolMini for double chin reduction using fat-freezing technology.

During your Kybella® treatment, a specially created template is used to mark the injection sites along your chin. Your provider will cleanse the treatment area and may apply a topical numbing cream for your comfort. They will then carefully administer Kybella® into the underlying layer of fat beneath the skin.

All injectable treatments are performed by our experienced dermatologists to ensure the best results. Depending on your unique case and your goals, you may need several small injections and multiple treatment sessions. This procedure typically takes half an hour or less.

The active ingredient in Kybella® targets and destroys stubborn fat cells, which are then naturally metabolized by your body. Over time, you will start to notice the results of your Kybella® treatment as your body begins flushing away the treated fat cells. Your chin will appear gradually slimmer, with an improved contour. 

You will most likely start seeing results a few weeks after your second treatment. The total number of recommended treatments for optimal results will depend on individual needs. Most patients need two to four treatments spaced at least a month apart. You can have up to six Kybella® treatments to achieve your desired effects.

Kybella® permanently destroys the fat cells under your chin, so they won’t return, and your results should last as long as you maintain a stable weight. Kybella® doesn’t stop the remaining fat cells from expanding if you gain weight, making a healthy lifestyle crucial to maintaining your newly contoured profile.

One of the benefits of Kybella® is that it doesn’t require any downtime, and most patients can return to their routine immediately. However, you may experience swelling and bruising at the injection site. This is usually minor and only lasts a couple of days, but can last longer. These side effects are often more severe after your first treatment and improve with subsequent injections.

Our dermatologists do everything they can to minimize the risk of bruising with injectable treatments. If minor bruising does occur, we offer complimentary laser treatments to reduce its appearance and get you back to your routine as soon as possible.
