Learn More About CoolSculpting®

CoolSculpting® is a revolutionary non-surgical procedure that uses a process known as cryolipolysis to freeze and destroy stubborn fat cells. It delivers precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target the fat cells underneath the skin while leaving the skin intact. 

The treated fat cells crystallize and then gradually break apart. Over time, the body naturally processes the fat and filters out these dead cells, which results in a long-term, more sculpted appearance at the treatment site. 

CoolSculpting® is best for stubborn fat on the abdomen, love handles, inner and outer thighs, and back. CoolMini is a CoolSculpting® applicator for treating smaller, harder-to-reach pockets of fat, such as above the knees, around the armpits, or a double chin.

All of our CoolSculpting® consultations and treatments are performed in our state-of-the-art body contouring suites for maximum privacy. During your consultation with a board-certified dermatologist, we will assess your areas of concern and determine if you are a good candidate for treatment. 

Capital Laser & Skin Care has the most advanced CoolSculpting® handpieces available, including CoolMini for a double chin, CoolSmooth Pro™, and CoolAdvantage, which can treat unwanted fat in a fraction of the time of traditional handpieces. Also, with multiple CoolSculpting® devices available in our body contouring suites, we can offer DualSculpting to treat multiple areas in half the time to get our patients back to their day quickly.

During your treatment, a gel pad and applicator are placed on the targeted area. You may feel pulling, tugging, and mild pinching at the beginning of the treatment. Controlled cooling is then delivered to the targeted fat layer. The cold sensation during treatment usually subsides after five to ten minutes once the treatment area becomes numb. At this point, most patients will read, check email, watch a movie, or just take a nap.

Since your body needs time to break down and filter out the frozen fat cells, CoolSculpting® results aren’t immediately visible. Although many people will start to notice results in as little as three weeks after treatment, the most dramatic changes are seen after three months.

CoolSculpting® is not a weight loss treatment, but removes fat to give you a more contoured appearance. A CoolSculpting® treatment destroys 20%-25% of fat cells in the targeted area. Once destroyed, these fat cells don’t come back. That means your results will last as long as you maintain a stable weight, making it essential to follow a healthy lifestyle for optimal results.

We’ll help you create a treatment plan that enables you to reach all your cosmetic goals. Though CoolSculpting® can help slim your problem areas, it won’t help with skin laxity. That’s why we also offer Exilis Elite™, Sofwave™, and Genius RF Microneedling for skin tightening and increased collagen.

After CoolSculpting, most patients can return to normal activities immediately, but you may experience some soreness or swelling. If you have multiple or large areas treated, you may want to take the rest of the day to rest and recover. Sometimes, numbness in the treatment areas lasts a couple of weeks.

Any side effects like numbness or swelling should subside within a few weeks. Wearing compression garments and drinking lots of water can help minimize swelling.

CoolSculpting® is an effective body contouring option for healthy adults with realistic expectations. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your goals and all the treatment options to meet them.

Ideal candidates have a BMI of less than 25 and are within 20 pounds of their goal weight. CoolSculpting® is best for treating small areas of stubborn fat. We may not recommend CoolSculpting® for pregnant or breastfeeding women or people with certain medical conditions or cold sensitivity.
