How RF Microneedling Works to Treat Acne Scars, Wrinkles & Skin Texture
Skin concerns like acne scars, wrinkles, and uneven texture can be challenging to address with skincare products alone. At Capital Laser & Skin Care, Genius RF microneedling offers a powerful, minimally invasive solution to help smooth and refresh your complexion.
By combining the benefits of traditional microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy, this treatment effectively stimulates collagen production and targets deeper layers of skin for noticeable, long-lasting improvements.
What is RF Microneedling?
RF microneedling is an advanced cosmetic procedure that pairs fine needles with radiofrequency energy. During treatment, the needles create microchannels in the skin while simultaneously delivering controlled heat into the dermis.
This process encourages the body’s natural healing response, boosting collagen and elastin production. The added RF energy helps tighten the skin and further enhances the remodeling effect, making RF microneedling an ideal option for improving acne scars, wrinkles, and uneven skin texture.

How RF Microneedling Works to Treat Acne Scars, Wrinkles & Skin Texture
Acne can leave scars when the skin’s healing process leads to uneven collagen distribution, creating depressions or raised areas. RF microneedling targets acne scars in two ways: the mechanical action of the needles breaks up scar tissue, and the radiofrequency energy heats the deeper layers of skin to enhance the production of new collagen.
Over time, this process helps fill in indented scars and smooth out raised areas, leading to a more even skin surface.
For wrinkles and fine lines, RF microneedling boosts collagen and elastin, two key proteins responsible for keeping skin firm and resilient. As collagen rebuilds, the skin becomes tighter and smoother, reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
Uneven skin texture, often caused by external factors like sun damage, enlarged pores, or mild scarring, also improves as collagen and elastin production increases, leading to a more refined, radiant complexion.
Am I a Good Candidate for RF Microneedling?
Most people in good health who have visible acne scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, or rough skin texture are excellent candidates for RF microneedling.
It is especially suitable for those who want significant results without the longer downtime associated with more aggressive procedures like deep chemical peels or laser resurfacing.
Since RF microneedling works below the skin’s surface, it can be safely performed on lighter and darker skin types. However, the ideal approach varies depending on individual concerns and skin sensitivity.
At Capital Laser & Skin Care, our experienced team provides personalized evaluations to help determine if RF microneedling is the right choice for your goals.

How Many RF Microneedling Treatments Will I Need?
The number of recommended RF microneedling sessions depends on your specific skin problems and how severe your issues, like acne scars or wrinkles, may be. Many people see visible improvement after just one treatment, but a series of three to four sessions spaced about four to six weeks apart typically delivers the best results.
Deeper acne scars or more pronounced wrinkles may require additional sessions for optimal smoothing and tightening.
After completing this series, maintenance treatments once or twice a year can help keep your skin looking firm, even, and youthful.
During your consultation at Capital Laser & Skin Care, we will create a treatment plan tailored to your needs, ensuring you achieve the best possible outcome.
Is There Any Downtime After RF Microneedling?
One of the benefits of RF microneedling is its minimal downtime compared to more invasive skin resurfacing procedures. After treatment, you may experience temporary redness, mild swelling, or pinpoint scabbing. These effects typically fade within a few days.
Most people can get back to work and normal activities within 24 to 48 hours. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, direct sun exposure, and applying harsh skincare products for the first couple of days to protect your skin as it heals.
In the days and weeks following treatment, you’ll notice steady, gradual improvements in skin tone and texture as collagen and elastin production increase. Full results typically appear within two to three months and continue to develop over time.
