Kids in Need Distributors (KIND)
Throughout the school year, KIND delivers food to schools across Montgomery County, Maryland. Each Friday, school staff members discretely slip those items — sustenance for the weekend — into the backpacks of needy students. It’s a simple mission based on the belief one of America’s wealthiest communities must not tolerate child hunger.
Jeremy Lichtenstein, a top national residential real estate agent and father of two, saw a need and decided to act on the belief that child hunger is intolerable. Jeremy founded Kids in Need Distributors, working with just one elementary school. He began making trips to the grocery store and dropping off weekend food supplies for students supported by the Free And Reduced Meal (FARM) program. Just five years later, KIND serves 23 schools and 1,615 students. In the 2015-2016 school year, KIND delivered 105,000 meals. KIND is 100% volunteer, so 100% of proceeds go directly to feeding needy children right here in our local community.
